Traditional Understanding of Location/Vital Sector

Pooja (Worship/Prayer) Room

·         The Pooja Room has to face the east or North-East direction

·         In a place of worship in the house, it is necessary to have an open atmosphere

·         Take care that there are enough light and air

·         Latrine/Toilets should not be near and shouldn’t share a common wall with the worship room

·         Keep it clean and always light incense sticks

·         Keeping an ‘Akhand’ Diya ( a lamp that is always and continuously burning) gives you infinite energy to overcome all obstacles in life

·         If a lamp is placed in the Pooja room, it should always be in front of the god

·         The lamp-stand or up lighter can be in the south-east corner of the prayer room

·         The doors of the prayer room should not close or open automatically

·         Idols should not be kept facing each other. Broken idols and torn pictures should not be kept in the prayer room

·         There should be a clear demarcation of the Pooja room and it should not be used for any other purpose


·         Pooja room should not be directly under the stairs
